
Lenny Martinez brings over 12 years of experience in investment funds specializing in agricultural, forestry, and agri-food companies across West Africa and Latin America.
He holds a Master of Arts in Political Science, with a specialization in international cooperation and economic development, and a focus on food policies. Additionally, he is a certified expert in sustainable agricultural finance from the Frankfurt School of Management. His professional history includes roles as Project Manager at Forest Finance France, Head of Sustainability at 12Tree Finance GmbH, and Impact and ESG Manager at The Moringa Partnership/Fund, where he focused on sourcing agri deals, monitoring and exiting equity investments in agri-food and forestry companies across Latin America, Africa, and Europe. During his time at the Moringa Fund, he co-managed a Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) with the Common Fund for Commodities.
At Mekong Capital, as Agriculture Value Chain Principal, Lenny leads the establishment and co-management of the Technical Assistance Facility and supports fundraising for Mekong Capital’s impact fund. His responsibilities include conducting comprehensive market and value chain research on target sectors, markets, strategic crops, and value chains for the impact fund’s future investments. He has developed specialized expertise in value chain partnerships within the food sector, particularly in cocoa, coffee, palm oil, mangoes, cashew nuts, and pineapples. Lenny’s work has added considerable value in helping Mekong Capital realize a part of its Vision, which is successfully fundraising for the impact fund.
Lenny loves visiting farms and spending time with farmers, gaining insight into how the food we eat is produced. Lenny enjoys delving into the stories behind these delicious products. He is committed to supporting agricultural value chains of aggregators and small producers who face challenges accessing financial services, a purpose he pursues through his work at Mekong Capital.
