HUSK HUSK

A pioneering regenerative agriculture company

HUSK is a regenerative agriculture company that turns rice husks into biochar-based fertilizers – an effective carbon removal solution that could lock carbon for over 100 years. Its products improve soil health, boost yields, and reduce chemical fertilizer use

In Cambodia, a key part of HUSK’s model is training women as carbon-farming ambassadors, who lead community education and sales efforts. This inclusive approach helped drive 27% of the company’s 2023 sales in Cambodia.

HUSK offers a range of biochar-based agricultural products suitable for all types of crops, including vegetables, fruit and nut trees, and arable crops. These products are designed to enhance soil health and increase yields from the very first application. The portfolio includes:

  • Biochar which improves soil structure and compost quality
  • Carbon-Based Fertilizer (CBF) a seedling mix and substrate
  • Biofertilizer ONIX P9 a biofertilizer that boosts plant growth naturally
  • Natural Insect Repellent (NIR), a natural insect repellent that supports pest management without chemicals.

Wide range of biochar products

Since Mekong Capital’s investment in July 2024, HUSK has experienced significant growth and achieved notable milestones in its mission to transform agriculture through regenerative practices. The company doubled its production capacity by relocating to a larger rice mill and developing a new pyrolysis unit, enabling more efficient biochar production. It also expanded its product line to include granular and liquid fertilizers tailored to specific crops, helping farmers reduce chemical inputs while improving yields.

HUSK’s market presence grew rapidly in Vietnam and Cambodia, aligning with Vietnam’s national goal to reach 25% organic fertilizer usage by 2025. Farmers using HUSK’s products reported a 15-20% increase in crop yields, up to 50% reduction in chemical fertilizer use, and a 10-20% boost in net revenue. Additionally, HUSK developed carbon credit certification and secured international funding, positioning Vietnam as a leader in decarbonizing agricultural value chains such as rice and coffee.
