Lenny Martinez has over 12 years of experience in investment funds focused on agriculture, forestry, and agro-food companies, with a footprint spanning West Africa and Latin America.
He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science, specializing in international cooperation and economic development, with a focus on food policy. He is also a certified professional in Sustainable Agricultural Finance from the Frankfurt School of Management. His professional experience includes: Project Manager at Forest Finance France, Director of Sustainability at 12Tree Finance GmbH, and Impact and ESG Manager at The Moringa Partnership/Fund. At Moringa, he focused on agricultural project deal finding, post-investment management and exits of equity investments in agro-food and forestry companies, covering Latin America, Africa, and Europe. He also co-manages a Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) with the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC).
At Mekong Capital, Lenny serves as Head of the Agricultural Value Chain Group, leading the establishment and co-management of the Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) and participating in fundraising for Mekong Capital’s Impact Fund. His responsibilities include conducting systematic and comprehensive market and value chain research on target industries, markets, strategic crops, and value chains to provide a basis for the fund’s future investment decisions. He has developed outstanding expertise in food value chain partnerships, with a particular focus on value chains related to crops such as cocoa, coffee, palm oil, mango, cashew, and pineapple. Lenny’s work has made a significant contribution to Mekong Capital’s achievement of its vision—successfully raising its Impact Fund.
Outside of work, Lenny enjoys visiting farms and interacting with farmers to gain a deeper understanding of how the food we eat is produced. He is also passionate about exploring the stories behind these delicious products. Lenny is committed to supporting agricultural value chain development for small producers and distributors facing financial difficulties and continues to uphold this mission through his work at Mekong Capital.
