Stan Amijee joined Mekong Capital in November 2025 and currently serves as an Investment Director. In this role, he leads deal origination and execution, with a particular focus on high-value export-oriented crops linked to smallholder farmers, leveraging his experience in food and agriculture investments across both direct and indirect strategies. Stan is responsible for evaluating deals, conducting due diligence, formulating impact theses and projects, as well as leading negotiations and closing transactions. Stan has more than 12 years of experience, with a focus on the food, agriculture, and forestry sectors. Prior to joining Mekong Capital, he worked at Criterion Africa Partners, a leading forestry investment manager with more than USD 250 million in assets under management, focused on sustainable forestry in Africa. Before that, Stan was a Senior Investment Manager at British International Investment (“BII”), where he executed USD 300 million in direct and indirect investments, primarily in the food, agriculture, and forestry sectors. He also managed a portfolio of food and agriculture funds and has a strong understanding of sector risks and key operational issues. A key achievement was developing a commercial and impact thesis for BII to deploy up to GBP 150 million into agriculture projects linked to high-value crops underpinned by nucleus smallholder farming models.

Stan has a strong passion for the food and agriculture sector and the sustainable development of smallholder farmers. He is also entrepreneurial in this space, having founded several ventures focused on organic food products and food and beverage businesses linked to smallholder farmers in his home country of Tanzania.

Stan holds a BSc in Computational Biology from the University of Warwick and a Master’s in Finance from the London School of Economics.
