As a result, MEF managed to complete the exit at attractive valuations, even in the midst of a global financial crisis.

Vào ngày 11 tháng 12 năm 2008, Quỹ Mekong Enterprise Fund đã bán toàn bộ phần vốn của mình trong Saigon Gas cho tập đoàn dầu khí Total của Pháp. Cùng thời điểm này, tập đoàn Total cũng lại mua lại 100% cổ phần của Saigon Gas. Đây là khoản đầu tư bán ra đầu tiên của Mekong Capital, đồng thời cũng là khoản thoái vốn private equity lần đầu được thực hiện tại Việt Nam. Mặc dù trong bối cảnh khủng hoảng tài chính và thị trường có nhiều biến động, chúng tôi vẫn đạt được định giá cao hơn so với bình quân thị trường. Dự đoán được xu thế sáp nhập của thị trường khí đốt hóa lỏng và thông hiểu biến động của ngành, chúng tôi đã cùng Saigon Gas tạo dựng các giá trị chiến lược như mạng lưới phân phối rộng khắp và thương hiệu mạnh. Chính những giá trị này là những yếu tố quan trọng các nhà đầu tư chiến lược tìm kiếm và sẵn sàng trả giá cao hơn. Và kết quả là Quỹ Mekong Enterprise Fund đã bán thành công khoản đầu tư này. Việc mua Saigon Gas đã giúp Total mở rộng mạng lưới phân phối, có thêm kho hàng nhập khẩu và tối ưu hóa hệ thống cung cấp.
