In October 2021, Mekong Enterprise Fund IV completed an investment of US$15 million into Gene Solutions.
Gene Solutions is a pioneer in utilizing genetic testing to detect the presence of diseases, and the market leader in Vietnam for reproductive healthcare, such as helping parents detect chromosomal disorders during pregnancy.
Gene Solutions has achieved a breakthrough liquid-biopsy technology for affordable earlier cancer detection, which is currently undergoing broader clinical trials in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. The investment of MEF IV is being used to accelerate these clinical trials.
In December 2021, F88 and Mobile World Group tied up to provide vehicle title loans throughout all Thegioididong and Dienmayxanh outlets in Ho Chi Minh city, before expanding to Mobile World Group’s wide retail network nationwide. Mobile World Group’s large network of 4,871 stores in Vietnam would help F88 speed up its expansion.
ABA’s total number of trips in 2021 increased by 22% YoY. This growth is largely driven by the growing demand from consumers for safe and fresh food supply from modern trade retailers in midst of the closure of traditional wet markets due to lockdowns.

In this quarter, Pharmacity accelerated its retail expansion with 134 new stores opened, raising the chain’s total stores to 767 nationwide.
In 4Q21, Vua Nem’s revenue achieved significant growth of 100% YoY. The growth is largely driven by multi-channel marketing campaigns, loyalty programs and a strong focus on improving customer experience at stores.
In 4Q21, 4P’s opened a new restaurant in Aeon Mall Tan Phu (HCMC), increasing the total number of Pizza 4P’s restaurants to 25.
In October and November 2021, Marou’s next 2 Marou Stations stores were opened at Giga Mall (Thu Duc District) and Takashimaya (District 1), Ho Chi Minh City, bringing the total number of retail stores of Marou to 7 nationwide.
By end of 2021, LiveSpo successfully expanded its distribution of its liquid spore-based probiotics to 1,136 pharmacy chain stores, representing 78% YoY growth. The growth was driven by LiveSpo’s high focus to penetrate the leading chains, such as Pharmacity.
In this quarter, by increasing 711 active Point of Sales (POS), Mutosi achieved a total of 3,497 POS across Vietnam, including modern trade and general trade channels, contributing to a 201% YoY growth in 2021 revenue.
The 2021 number of agents increased 47% YoY thanks to the successful agent recruitment programs.
Gene Solutions’ number of tests in 2021 increased by 127% YoY. This was mainly contributed by the significant increase in Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing tests due to marketing campaigns and series of workshops organized in hospitals and clinics for doctors and pregnant women.
When MEF III divested in 2022, Pizza 4P’s grew from a chain of 8 restaurants in 2018 to a network of 27 restaurants in Vietnam and Cambodia, representing growth of more than three times. During this rapid growth, Pizza 4P’s has successfully maintained its uniquely high-quality standards and commitment to delivering ‘Wow’ dining experiences to its customers. As a validation of its stronghold in customer experience, Pizza 4P’s has been nominated as the Best Pizza in Vietnam and Cambodia as part of the Asia’s Best Awards 2022 by the well-known international magazine Travel + Leisure Asia.
